Reader, PDF, print: three licences

A free title on our list means the e-book reader is free. It does not mean the file is free to keep, and it does not mean a paperback is free. A paid title charges for time in the reader as well. PDF download and paper copies are always separate line items, because they cost different things to produce. You will see this clearly on every book page: Read, Download PDF, Printed edition.
